MORE!

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:12 - 17

God is amazing! In all that he plans and prepares for us, even when we fail to recognize his presence. Although He gives us many wonderous gifts, the gift of the Holy Spirit is a treasure that is frequently overlooked. Jesus promised us, as His disciples, that we would do greater works than he did. How is that even possible? It is hard for us to believe that we would be given the gifts of life and healing that only Jesus exhibited to us while on this earth.

Christians should be taking command of situations all over the place if this is the case. Unfortunately, I only know of a handful of pastors who have true healing ministries, only a few who have deliverance ministries, and a few who boldly prepare their congregations for the days ahead. I once heard a pastor claim that there was a time when he believed in healing, but he was disappointed time after time and he just moved on and has not set his heart to healing anymore. I thought to myself, “how sad.”

Jesus promised, more. Those who have been born again (born of the Spirit, John 3:3-8), have the power of the living God inside of them. This is so very exciting! We can only come to a place of realization of this inner power when we keep in step with Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God. Jesus promised this Spirit of Truth only to those who keep his commandments to show that they love him. What an incredible privilege we have!

Those of us who have been born of the Spirit need to begin to live into this new reality. It is a gift. We need to walk in authority. The authority that Jesus of Nazareth provided to us when He defeated the dominion of death and darkness. Jesus told his disciples that those who belong to him would have the power to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, and more. Whatever that more is, I want it!

I encourage you today, to believe in the words spoken by our Savior. Live into His promises of authority over darkness. Do not allow the darkness to prevail anywhere you set foot. We are promised the power of the living God to dwell in those of us who accept this gift. Most of all we need to use this power to change the world around us as we deliberately make disciples and not merely converts. We cannot allow for the world to intimidate us into silence. We have been created to thrive as we discern truth from lies. Trust in this promise and discern the times.
